Cutting Board Design gets a Name

Introducing the "Preston" Cutting Board, our first special order. We have decided to name it after the designer, since it will be offered as a standard available option. Shown here sanded up and ready for finish.  16" x 22" x 1 1/8", radius corners and drip edge all around, but only on one side.  It's reversible!
Walnut is the wood choice and the Butcher Block Conditioner not only seals and protects the board, it also brings out the character in the wood grain. So pretty!
Do you agree? We love it and hope to sell many more (and keep one for us of course)!
We have since sold another, based on this design.  Red Birch is the wood choice, which has a slightly less material cost than Walnut, per board foot.
Beautiful!
All the cutting boards we offer are hand made by the husband...no buyins.
In need of a cutting board for yourself or a gift?  You know who to call...

Thank you for stopping by, comments welcome!

Cheers to the Cutting Board

Cutting boards are happening. It's going really well and we can't keep up.  Our first big step was jumping in on the craft fairs. Done.  Going to (hopefully) join 2 - 3 per year.
Second big step, getting our boards into a local shop. Thank you Ascutney Market and here we go!
We will work on the Etsy Shop also, adding options and maybe more than cutting boards and picture frames?  We will see!

Beyond The Unicorn

Craft Fair # 2, here we come!  Someone (my husband) thought it would be a good idea to see if there were any tables left for the Beyond The Unicorn Craft Fair 12/7/13.  Did you know he is a Springfield Alumni?  He is, that's another story, back to the craft fair.

We didn't expect to get in for this year, we were thinking maybe next year. Guess what?  There had just been a cancellation and the planner was trying to find a replacement that wasn't offering jewelry or felt wool.....so we are IN.

Only 2 weeks to get ready...are we nervous....YES.  But away we go, cutting boards all over the place.
Mahogany End Grain and Maple Mahogany End Grain Combo will be making their debut!!

Cheers!

Cutting Boards?

Yes, Cutting Boards.
Starting with maple, walnut and cherry wood pieces, and 2 size options.

Let us show you how it's done.

Tools needed:  Radial Arm Saw, Table Saw, Planer and Clamps
You will also need wood glue and talent.

The talented eye is needed for selecting which pieces go together on each board. Based on grain pattern and color.
These cherry pieces were chosen with sap to add a certain amount of character.
Clamped up, wood glue will need about 1 1/2 hours to dry. Notice the filler pieces between the board and the clamps, they are important as we do not want clamp marks.
Ready for planing and being cut to size.
Looking good!  These 4 are now ready for hand sanding, eased edges and finish. Bring on the Howard's Butcher Block Conditioner.
Walnut - Maple, Cherry-Cherry and 2 Cherry-Maple.  Who knows which one I'm going to want to keep?
Cherry - Maple
Walnut - Maple

Size shown 11 3/4" x 16" x 1" (approx)

Who wants one? Or two? $40 for the Cherry - Maple and the Walnut - Maple + Shipping

Routed drip detail added to this one.
What do you think? Only $10 extra!

Find US on Etsy!

We've made a few all walnut and they may win out as the favorite...we will see!

We need more "stuff" on the shelves!
And, maybe a bigger plant in the window.

Down Juniper Hill Road, through town, back up State Street to County Road...

and then home.
Happy Sunday!!

Wine Tasting / Windsor, Vermont

Sometimes it's all about the wine...
Rose' for the April Wine Tasting 4/26/13
at the Windsor House in Historic Windsor, VT.
Did I mention there was live music by Joice Marie? Fantastic, here we go.
Must be 21, oh yeah, we've got that covered...by more than double, actually.
Meet Rice Yordy, he and his beautiful wife Lisa are the owners of Windsor Wine & Spirits and the hosts for these wonderful wine tasting events.
Catering by Anne Yates, wonderful idea and the choices were
excellent!
Anne and her family own the Country Convenience Store across the river in Plainfield, NH.  If you head to West Leb via 12A, like we do, be sure to stop in, often.
Back to the wine...all 6 Rose' were very nice, we chose these 3 for purchase.
1. Sequin Rose' 2012 offered at $9.99
2. Bieler Pere rose' 2012 offered at $10.99
3. Domaine de Ballade Rose' 2012 offered at $9.99

Great wines, great prices and friendly folks, can't beat that.
Cheers in Windsor, VT!
