Where's Sandy?

There she is!

Three of these oak Sandy's are spoken for...which one will stay with us and for how long? How would you decide as the grain patterns are all different?

Which would you leave behind? This could be tough, I'll keep you posted.

Bold wood grain character won out this time and made this decision easy. Nice!

See the little piece with quarter-sawn ray flake? I have to admit the oak grain is growing on me.
Walnut-Maple Skinny and Maple-Walnut Skinny
More walnut and walnut combo Sandy's to come as we stock up for the Beyond the Unicorn Christmas Craft Fair.

See you there?

Gearing up for the Springtime when the Farmer's Markets begin - we joined a few and again, learned a lot.  1st of all, you have to pay to get a spot in any of the fairs and/or markets. So, you need to decide which ones are a good fit and which ones to try again - or not.

Big Sister - Little Sister

Our Preston and our Wendy are the original big brother - little sister set...then came Ryan and Sandy.  Do you remember Kelly?
Kelly in Rustic Cherry
Kelly has a little sister in the making...her name will be Jacquie and we believe she will be a wonderful addition to the family!!

Jacquie in Mahogany - Maple Combo
Don't forget, just like Kelly - our Jacquie has the drip edge and pond, only on one side.
What do you think? Will the Jacquie be a big hit?

Tomato and Avocado Salad

Sharing my first attempt at a new recipe found on Little Bites of Everything.
You will need all that is shown above...for the record, I forgot the lemon, the basil and the spice. It was still very good!
I'll try this recipe again with all of the ingredients and I'm sure it will be even more delicious. And prettier as I get better and better at staging. End Grain Dizzy continues to be my favorite handmade cutting board, though I've not actually chopped anything on her...yet.
Link to Kristy's full blog post below, be sure to check her site often. I know I will be for more heart heathy and fun to make dishes.

Leaves are Falling

As the leaves are falling and the sun is shinning, it's a beautiful day in historic Windsor, VT. The artisan (Buddy) is outside with yard work and the marketing directer,(that would be Sandy) is inside. We each do what we can!

Gearing up for the local holiday craft fairs and having fun staging our tables. Our friend little Autumn Breezes by Charming Tails is helping out.
The character in the walnut wood continues to amaze me.
Walnut Cheese Board - Small
Each piece as beautiful, if not even more beautiful as the last. Although, the cherry - maple combos continue to please. So much so, we have decided to make both cherry - maple and maple - cherry...can you guess what the difference will be?
Cherry - Maple Cheese Board - Small
Notorious rustic cherry, as it continues to age and deepen in color, a hit in all designs.
Rustic Cherry Cheese Board - Small
Mixed oak gives a heavier grain and adds weight.  Perhaps more masculine? What do you think?
Mixed Oak Cheese Board - Small
Our 1st all maple board, light and simple.  I think it's too plain, but let's say you are using it to stage a product - a product with color.  This style might be perfect, as not to take away from your item?
Maple Cheese Board - Small
Which wood species would you choose for your very own handmade wooden cutting board?  If you could only choose one?
Walnut - Maple Cutting Board - Medium
(Also available in Maple - Walnut)
Thank you for stopping by our blog, comments are welcome, as is advice!!

Big Brother - Little Sister

As our cutting board designs evolve and grow, we are realizing what our customers tend to respond too and what wood species sells the fastest. Any guesses?
Rustic Cherry Set - Shown in small and medium sizes.  Though since the Sandy arrived, our smalls aren't as popular.  It's medium and large all the way!
Big brother Preston and little sister Wendy are both tremendous hits.
Small circles are still selling, only because they are so darn cute...the mediums are a more reasonable size.  And, a larger end grain circle is in the works. Stay tuned!
Another big brother - little sister set. The Ryan and the Sandy shown in Walnut - Maple combo.
Small - Medium - Large, will likely become Medium and Large. Learning as we go is great fun.
Ok, back to the most popular wood species...if you guessed walnut, you are correct!
